2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So wow, where did 2010 go? It was exactly a year ago today that Jason started his job at Sam Houston State. It feels like yesterday I was helping him pack up his car to make the move by himself... WOW has a lot happened since then. Let's do a SHORT recap of 2010:

Jason moves to Texas. Jason moves in with college sophomore who throws parties all the time. Jason starts new job. I interview for jobs... no luck. WEDDING PLANNING. Trips to Texas to visit Jason. Trips to Ohio for WEDDING PLANNING. Quitting Lowe's :( Moving to Texas. Living with the sophomore for two days. Moving in two flights of stairs in July in Texas. Sweat. A lot of sweat. Working at a gym (ha.) Interview at TAMU. WEDDING WEEKEND in CLEVELAND. Best. Day. Ever. Starting my new job at TAMU three days later. Mr Puppy Bojanges. Miller and Michael's wedding. House Hunting. First Thanksgiving dinner together. More house hunting. Awesome trip home to NC and OH.

PHEW... are you tired? I am. Here's to hoping to 2011 is equally as awesome at 2010, but maybe a little less crazy?!

Random: As you are reading this are you reading 2011 as Two Thousand Eleven, Two Thousand AND Eleven, or Twenty Eleven? I think I like Twenty Eleven.

Anyway. Back to a HAPPY NEW YEAR. This new year started off with sleep. On New Year's Eve Jason and I got up at 5:45am to catch an 8am flight to Atlanta. We sat in Atlanta for 4 hours, waiting for our connector to Houston. We got back to Texas at about 3:15, got the bags, got the car, and drove home.

We got home at about 5:15. Mr. Bojangles was there waiting for us!! He was alive and didn't hate us!! Jason's friend/co-worker picked him up early for us so he wouldn't be locked in the vet any longer than he had to (the vet closed at noon on NYE and wouldn't open again for pick-ups until Monday). So our little bugger was at home waiting for us by the door! Mr. Bojangles opened his Christmas gifts when we got home. He got a bunch of little kitty-sized balls and fake mice. He also got a "Crunchy-Cat-Bag" basically it is a bag that is super loud. Cats like to get into boxes and bags and like stuff that makes noises.

This is his "Good thing you got me gifts because you left me for a really long time" face. He is in his crunchy cat bag. One of his kitty-sized balls is behind him.

About 20 minutes later we left him again.... But just to go to the grocery store. We got lots of food. Unpacked it. Cooked dinner. Unpacked the bags. Watched some football and counted down the minutes until midnight. We were TIRED! We had a busy week of fun and traveling. I tried to convince Jason that we should celebrate New Years on Eastern time, but it didn't work.

We had the classiest NYE ever. (Read with a sarcastic tone.)

Andre Mimosas with Raspberries.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of you are saying "Andre" what is that? Welp, its the CHEAPEST lowest shelf champagne EVER. Ok... Technically it isn't Champagne, because I doubt the grapes are made the the correct region of the world... But if you throw some OJ and Raspberries in with it (added with holiday tiredness) and you can't tell the difference! Jason and his friends LOVE Andre. They are cheap and weird..which pretty much explains it.

Anyway.... Here was the timeline for the rest of NYE:
11:45 we got in bed.
12:00 I gave Jason a NYE smooch (the cat was already sleeping on him)
12:00:30 seconds the TV was off and the lights were off.
12:01 everyone PASSED OUT.
....But MAN that first minute of 2011 was a good one.

The rest of 2011 so far has been SLEEP (by me... I got a little cold) COOKING (by Jason... he went crazy) and FOOTBALL (man, they play a lot of football on New Year's Day).

Jason made: Veggie Chili, Turkey Chili, Collard Greens, Black Eyed Peas, Sauerkraut and Kielbasa, deviled eggs and Gumbo. All in about 36 hours. Seriously, he went crazy. But I am OK with it because it was YUMMY!

Here is a little food lesson from Caitlin: Sauerkraut and pork is good luck on New Years Day if you are from North East Ohio. So is washing your hands and face with silver. I did both. Black eyed peas are good luck to eat on New Years Day if you are from the South. We had those too. Anyway, on to the pictures:

No, we didn't pour that out of a glass.... To add to the classy-ness of 2011 we bought a mini-keg.
Um, what would a mini-keg, in a mini-fridge, that sits in the living room, next to the recliner be without a Carolina helmet on top?! Umm... probably not half as classy.

I think 2011 should be dubbed "The year classy took over Texas."We'll see what I can do, but judging by the cheap sparkling white wine, and mini-keg in the living room I would say that Texas has pulled all the class that I had right out of me...

Anyway. I hope that everyone had an AMAZING Christmas and a GREAT New Year. We did.

I will recap the past week over the next few days.... I think we'll start at Christmas Eve and work our way up.... sound good?

Love. Love. Love. From Texas!
